From Helsinki, Petra and I have moved on the Norrköping (Sweden) in a small propeller plane. After so many journeys, it’s like coming home.

Here we were received by a charming community of Latin Americans, who are responsible for the events here.

We are staying in the house of Ilva (Swedish woman with a Colombian […]

Pierre’s last hour (26th October 12.15pm)

Pierre has just called us from St. Petersburg. It seems that he HASN’T found his passport. It looks like it’s probably been stolen, so he thinks.

The good news, is that in the Belgian consulate they’ve confirmed that they can give him a provisional copy in one hour, that will be valid for 6 months […]

From St. Petersburg to Tallin

We’ve only spent 30 hours in St. Petersburg, which is a shame because from the little we’ve seen, it seems to be a lovely city and much more habitable than Moscow. In Tallin, it’s even worse, we’re not even there for 24 hours.

From St Petersburg to Tallin we’re travelling in a bus, from which […]

Why do you do it?

We’ve just finished the Asian leg. We were thinking right from the start that this would be the hardest of all, but it turned out to be enthralling. From our western outlook, the logistical conditions have been on occasioins, well below what we expected, but today, only a few days later, they’ve lost all importance […]

Pierre left behind in St. Petersburg

In a journey like ours, one of the worst things that can happen is loose sight of your passport. This is exactly what has happened to Pierre (the Belgian)

This morning, after breakfast and already with suitcases prepared for getting on the bus, came the moment of revision. Someone, usually Rafa, calls out, “Ok, let’s […]

To the Angels of Moscow: gracias, grazie, merci, thank you

Maybe because we’re “good people” or simply because we have a lot of luck, but the case is that everywhere we go we are meeting marvellous people who help us and connect emotionally.

In Moscow our “angels” have been Ana and Alejandra, from the Latin American Institute (Russian Academy of Sciences).

They received us in […]

23 October 2009

We are now in Moscow. Our situation has turned 360º, we’ve gone from a Buddhist temple to a hotel with more than 20 floors, full of businesses, restaurants and girls in mini-skirts seeking company. They don’t seem to be as happy as the monks, but it’s good to see a few high-heels after so many […]

The Magic of the March 3. At City Hall

We continue with our agenda after going to Yongsan where the activists of the city came together in an emotional event, in protest at the death of 5 people in an incident that occurred when the police tried to evict them from their homes. The brutality of property speculation seems to be behind the events.
